Health Improvement Collaborative to Host
Celebration of Collaborative Leadership on November 8
Robert Galvin, MD, GE Director of Corporate Health Care & Medical Programs, is Keynote Speaker

Cincinnati - The Health Improvement Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati will present its fifth annual Celebration of Collaborative Leadership this Thursday, November 8 at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati. The event, which will begin at 5:45 p.m., will feature keynote speaker Robert S. Galvin, director of Corporate Health Care & Medical Programs for GE.

In addition to being responsible for GE’s $3 billion annual health spending, Dr. Galvin oversees GE’s clinical group (encompassing more than 215 clinics in 30 countries) and leads health policy for the corporation. In his current role Dr. Galvin has focused on issues of market-based health policy and financing, with special interest in performance measurement, payment reform and the assessment and coverage of new technologies. He is also a professor adjunct of Medicine at Yale University, where he leads the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar seminar series on the private sector.

Additionally, the event will recognize several dedicated volunteers who have served on behalf of the organization. Awards include:

· The Volunteer Leadership Award, presented to individuals who have provided significant time and leadership toward furthering the Collaborative mission. The 2007 award recipients include:

o Richard N. Aft, PhD, United Way of Greater Cincinnati (retired)

o Kenneth Davis, Jr., MD, FACS, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine

o Karen L. Mueller, Horan Associates, Inc.

o Mark Upson, Greater Cincinnati Diabetes Program

· The Friend of the Collaborative Award, presented to an individual or organization that has demonstrated steadfast support for the Collaborative both in the Greater Cincinnati community and across the country. The 2007 recipient of this award is Schering-Plough Corporation. Mike Boyd, vice president of Public Affairs International for Schering-Plough, will accept the award.
