HEALTH IMPROVEMENT COLLABORATIVE APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Health Improvement Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati, a unique, community-funded incubator for innovation to create a healthier community, has appointed Gregory L. Ebel as executive director.

“Greg is a seasoned human resources and financial services executive with an extensive record of leadership and community service,” said L. Thomas Wilburn, Jr., director of Bethesda Services and Collaborative board chair. “He is well-poised to lead the Collaborative to the next level.” Ebel will begin his position on October 1.

Ebel will take over the helm from Lynn R. Olman, who will leave her post as the Collaborative’s executive director on August 31 (as well as her role as president of the Greater Cincinnati Health Council) to take a position with Spencer Stuart, an executive recruiting firm, at its home office in Chicago.

Until Ebel officially assumes his position in October, the Collaborative Board has appointed Nancy M. Strassel, Greater Cincinnati Health Council Vice President and Special Projects Director for the Collaborative, to serve as interim executive director.

Ebel served eleven years at The E.W. Scripps Company as its senior human resources officer before leaving in 2005 to develop a human resources consulting and executive search practice. Prior to Scripps, he spent 12 years with PNC Bank, Ohio as a senior vice president in charge of private banking, and before that, human resources.

His community service leadership is extensive. He is currently president of the board of INROADS, a minority mentoring program, past president of the Cincinnati May Festival, a member of Cincinnatus Association, has held leadership positions with the Cincinnati Nature Center and is a volunteer with Cincinnati Works, among other activities.

Ebel is a graduate of Miami University, where he received an MBA, and of Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He lives in Terrace Park with his wife Reed and two daughters, Cate and Alex.
